how often do you have to season the box?

    he says basically a lot

Good question! You can put them in the same humidor… this is where Spanish cedar dividers are good to have inside your humidor. As when cigars age the tobacco marries together creating a wonderful tasting cigar.
If you have many different cigars all together touching they will indeed pick up the flavors and aromas from the other cigars beside them. Cedar dividers will allow you to store many different cigars in the same humidor together, but apart.

So, I have a few question! I don;t know a lot about cigars, but I’m really getting into them, so, if I buy a bunch of different cigars (CAO Flavours, Rocky Patel, CAO Gold, etc) can I put them in the same humidor? Will that affect each cigar since they all have different notes, size and wrapper?? THANKS!

  5. CIGARSTARCA says:

JUST AN FYI. If your humidor is too moist this could cause the formation of mold so you want to make sure that an analog hygrometer is reading properly.
AFTER YOU SEASON YOUR HUMIDOR FOR THE FRIST TIME YOUR HYGROMETER SHOULD READ 80-85% HUMIDITY, IT WILL THEN DROP DOWN AS THE WOOD ABSORBS THE HUMIDITY TO THE IDEAL 65-70%

IF YOUR HYGROMETER IS NOT ABOVE OR AROUND 80% AFTER YOU FIRST SEASON IT, YOU SHOULD CALIBRATE YOUR HYGROMETER

@finnstralian Our pleasure! Glad this video is helping beginners get started in this great hobby of collecting & enjoying fine cigars as cigars only get better with age….. IF STORED PROPERLY :-)

  7. CIGARSTARCA says:

@JetSetterSOS If your seal is good then your humidor should be ready.
IMPORTANT: AFTER YOU SEASON YOUR HUMIDOR FOR THE FRIST TIME YOUR HYGROMETER SHOULD READ 80-85% HUMIDITY, IT WILL THEN DROP DOWN AS THE WOOD ABSORBS THE HUMIDITY.

IF YOUR HYGROMETER IS NOT ABOVE OR AROUND 80% AFTER YOU FIRST SEASON IT, YOU SHOULD CALIBRATE YOUR HYGROMETER. We have a video for this . :-)

Thanks so much for this. Mrs bought me one for Xmas and I followed this and now have my collection sitting in 69% (the ambient humidity is 35%). I had to wipe it out 5 times to get it ready but I’d have been lost as the instructions with it didn’t cover this at all. rgs.

Question- So I just got a new humidor as a gift. Im pretty sure it seal is good however I seasoned it a few times and it wont past 60ish maybe 65. I read that since its winter that effects it? And the reader is analog meter. Any suggestions or thoughts? And at what point are cigars ready to go in? Thanks so much!

  10. CIGARSTARCA says:

@joli66 If your humidor is not holding humidity, then the seal might not be good anymore as if you follow these steps your humidor should be at a perfect humidity level. The wood in your 15 year old humiodr may have warpped, thus making the seal poor allowing the humidity to escape.
I would suggest you start with a new humidor.

    Thanks for the post!

I have a humidor which is about 13-15 years old, in spanish cedar I would guess, It wasn’t seasoned properly from the beginning and has not been humidified well following receipt.

My question: How can I get it to work? Will I need to re-season it in a special manner? If so how?

    Thanks

  13. CIGARSTARCA says:

do you have a Cigar Star humidor?

  14. CIGARSTARCA says:

Most humidors will only need to be seasoned a couple of times before they are ready for your cigars, Some may only need to be seasoned once all depends on where your humidity level is on your hygrometer.

  18. SteamGeorge says:

thanks for the vid and all the info, nice intro to a humidor.

    regards from Germany,

    Ferdinand

  19. CIGARSTARCA says:

@sjjdiienno1 You just want to wipe down the cedar tray. This means no standing water should be on the removeable tray.

  20. CIGARSTARCA says:

@kubsun You can never rush a good thing. Follow the video. In the mean time buy a large tupperware dish that locks closed and use the humidifer inside the tupperware dish until your humidor is fully seasoned, and ready for your cigars, sure would hate to see anyone ruin 100 fine cigars.

  21. kubsun says:

hey! how can i get it ready in 1 day? i will receive 100 Cuban cigars for Friday and my humidor arrives on Thursday!!!! can you tell me the fastest way to reach the 75 % of humidity?

    thanks a lot!
