1 Cut the foot (the end you smoke) to your liking. Punches, V cutters, guillotine, whatever you like. If a guillotine try to cut on the mid cap (that peice of tobacco covering the foot).
2 Toast the cigar with a lighter or non sulfur match. You just slowly roll the head of the cigar over the flame (without touching it) until the end is slightly charred.
3 Put the cigar in your mouth and light it by sucking and exhaling as the lighter is in front but (not touching) the head of the cigar.
4 When the head is completely lit its ready to go. You only need to puff it about once every 30 seconds. The oils can get too hot and ruin the flavor
5 Smoke it down (never inhaling) until you no longer enjoy the flavor.
Tradition says to remove the band prior to smoking as this is a sign of pretentiousness but it doesn’t matter. Do whatever you like with it.

You’re actually not supposed to inhale a cigar. The point is the flavor and you can still do it without hurting your lungs. just a puff to let the taste linger in your mouth but not in your lungs. You won’t die if you inhale but it’s really not a good idea.

That said, there are no studies that suggest that light cigar smoking (1-2 cigars per month) increases your risk of smoking related illness. I only smoke about one cigar a month – maybe two. Other people say that two a day isn’t that bad. Just remember to exercise moderation and not to inhale.
