What Causes You To Salivate When You Smoke A Cigar?

When you smoke a cigar and salivate and you need to spit, why is that? I’m guessing that there is a chemical that stimulates the salivary glands, but does anyone know the real reason?

    The action of the mandibular muscles, as you chew, generate saliva, in the case of food and cigars.
