    Under ideal conditions cigars get better with age and are vintaged like good wines. If you go to a cigar store you may be able to get a metal tube to put it in, which will help it stay fresh for much longer.
    I have seen pre 1960 Cuban cigars on Ebay for some serious money.

    I usually keep mine in the wrapper in a plastic bag in the refrigerator. They usually stay pretty fresh for a week or two and the smoke seems more concentrated.
