Cigar Flavors
Cigar smokers generally don’t smoke artificially flavored cigars. One exception is the search for a good daily cigar, but you should be able to find one that is naturally flavored at a reasonable price.

Cigars obtain their flavor naturally from the soil they’re grown in. Tobacco fields are generally planted in fields that had something else grown in the previous season. This is why some cigars have a nutty taste, some have a chocolaty taste, some have a coffee taste, and so on.

The following are the common flavors to expect from cigars:

Spice Cocoa / chocolate Peat / moss / earth Coffee Nut Wood Berry Honey

That wraps up this short educational article about cigar flavors. For more information please see my website link below

Cigar Classification

Cigars are generally classified by their shape and size. These two combined are known as vitola.

Two factors determine the size of the cigar, the ring gauge and the length. The ring gauge is the diameter sixty-forths of an inch and the length is measured in inches.

The common shape of the cigar is called parejo. The following are the term sizes related to parejo:

Coronas Rothschilds (4 1/2? x 50) after the Rothschild family Robusto (4 7/8? x 50) Hermosos No. 4 (5? x 48) Mareva/Petit Corona (5 1/8? x 42) Corona (5 1/2? x 42) Corona Gorda (5 5/8? x 46) Toro (6? x 50) Corona Grande (6 1/8? x 42) Cervantes/Lonsdale (6 1/2? x 42), named for Hugh Cecil Lowther, 5th Earl of Lonsdale Dalia (6 3/4? x 43) Julieta, also known as Churchill (7? x 47), named for Winston Churchill Prominente/Double Corona (7 5/8? x 49) Presidente (8? x 50) Gran Corona (”A”) (9 1/4? x 47) Panatelas – longer and generally thinner than Coronas Small Panatela (5? x 33) Carlota (5 5/8? x 35) Short Panatela (5? x 38) Slim Panatela (6? x 34) Panatela (6? x 38) Deliciados/Laguito No. 1 (7 1/4? x 38)

Figurado is the term used for irregularly-shaped cigars. They’re sometimes considered higher quality because they are more difficult to make.

Figurados include the following:

Torpedo – Like a parejo except that the cap is pointed. Pyramid – Has a broad foot and evenly narrows to a pointed cap. Perfecto – Narrow at both ends and bulged in the middle. Presidente/Diadema – shaped like a parejo but considered a figurado because of its enormous size and occasional closed foot akin to a perfecto. Culebras – Three long, pointed cigars braided together. Tuscanian – The typical Italian cigar, created in the early nineteenth century when Kentucky tobacco was hybridized with local varieties and used to create a long, tough, slim cigar thicker in the middle and tapered at the ends, with a very strong aroma. It is also known as a cheroot, which is the largest selling cigar shape in the United States.

Tastes significantly matter for cigar as it matters for wine. It is all right if have already found cigar own choice and taste. But, it does not mean that you could not check out other brands. Huge popularity of cigar has flourished a many companies and also formed numerous stories all along. Cuban cigar is one of the most famous brands but controversy and ban has bigger role here in its popularity.
Experts suppose that quality of filler and brand name both together form an identity for the cigar. These experts also accept that few cigar crazies smoke famous cigars because it is about their prestige issues not the taste. Now, in consecutive context, here comes a name ‘Honduras’. It is a virtual Mecca for avid cigar lovers. It is believed that it is a place where tobacco seeds go to make their parents proud. Hurricane devastation, political diversity, and human rights violations; together made this country the poorest one in Central America. But, the fortune of this country turns when its adjacent countries feel the need of tobacco. It is the place where they first knock the door.
Historical facts suggest that there was substantial numbers of inflow of expert cigar makers from Havana with the permission of Castro’s government, around the year 1960. So, certainly Honduras tobacco has Cuban roots. Natural climatic condition in Honduras also encourages cigar production. Due to favorable condition, Honduras cigars use to be flavorful, full-bodied, strong, and in possession of a heavy aroma. Once, Cuban cigars were unanimously supposed the king of the cigar market. But, after the entry of Honduras cigars, everybody accepted it as a quality competitor for Cuban’s.
Growing reputation as quality cigar makers provided a fantastic opportunity to the country to rebuild its past destruction/turmoil. Flourishing cigar business undoubtedly strengthened the country’s economy and still it is continued. However, Christopher Columbus already “discovered” country’s prosperity in lived history, even the tale behind country’s name is so romantic.

Padron cigars are globally noted for its fabulous flavor along with the essence of Cuban heritage. Padron still sticks with handmade cigar making process. It firmly denies the potential stake of technology used into cigar making. Probably, Padron is the only example in the cigar world which doesn’t hesitate in expressing such unusual confidence and faith upon its clients. So, the premier online cigarshop like CigarsDirect.com has included it into its wide ranges of cigar.

Now, let’s have the glimpse upon company profile. Padron is a family owned business, led by José O. Padrón and Jorge Padrón. The family takes care of everything right from the tobacco culmination to sorting, processing, manufacturing and distribution. The cigar is made up of extra long-aged Nicaraguan-grown tobaccos from Cuban seed. There is an interesting incident with this cigar. Cigar Aficionado is a highly reputed cigar magazine. It has continuously rated Cigars more than twelve years but never named as the best cigar of the year.

Thus, the complete management in own hand helps the company in determining quite lower price and quality product in spite of hard work in its making. Though all companies are raising price of their product but Padron believes in customer satisfaction and customer always remains on the top of its priority list.

Today, there are a many duplicate Padron manufacturers in the market. So, there are few points which must be taken care of whenever you are making the purchase:

• There are two special series of Padron cigars which have double band. Their names are Padrón Cigars 1926 Series and 1964 Anniversary Series.

• Another prominent identity is Padrón logo which is nicely visible on their uppermost ring.

• Unique serial number is also a credible identity mark.

• One must know that Padron cigars are always sold in wooden boxes. Hence, cigars in cellophane wrapped bundles are fake Padron cigar.

At last, let’s not miss to mention Padron’s signature line, the 1926 Anniversario. It comes under a very special category of cigar. Leading online shop viz. CigarsDirect.com may offer special pack of Padron 1926 40th Anniversary on discounted price as well. So get the best deal there.

Cigar is a cylindrical roll of tobacco. It is used in smoking with a wrapper leaf. Always, most expansive leaves are used in cigars. In terms of characteristics, it is stronger in odor and smoke. It bears pleasant flavor and good burning properties. As per historical evidences, cigar was introduced by Maya Indians in 10th century. Christopher Columbus and other explorers have revealed this fact in their notes.
? Gustave Bock was a Dutch immigrant. He owned a cigar factory in Cuba in the 1830s. It is believed that it was the first to place a paper band around his cigars. It was just a paper ring with his signature.
? Very soon, it prominently flourished and became very profitable business. However, now cigar rolling has become mechanized but still few prestigious companies adhere with traditional stuffs. They do mention phrase on the boxes such as ‘totalmente a mano (totally by hand) or hecho a mano (made by hand)’.

A glimpse upon manufacturing of premium Cigars
? At first tobacco leaves pass through curing process and it takes approximately 25 to 45 days which depends upon climatic condition and construction of sheds or barns used to store harvested tobacco as well.
? After curing, second process is fermentation. Under this process, major characteristics like flavor, burning, and aroma are primarily brought out in the leaf.
? Once after properly being aged, leaves are used as filler. Under this process, these are continuously moistened and ensured proper utilization each leaf as per the quality.
? Few premium brands cigars (viz. Acid Cigars, Padron Cigars, Ashton Cigars, Dominican Cigars) use special varieties of tobacco. For instance, long leaves are thoroughly used in long filler cigars which are supposed as higher quality of cigar.
? For long term storage of cigar, lower storage temperature viz. 40C/400F is recommended. There are special storage boxes available in the market like wooden box or humidor. Such containers carefully control ideal conditions for longer period.

Packaging of cigars
? The outermost portion or wrapper comes from the widest part of the plant and its color in itself speaks a lot about character and flavor of cigar. There is also a myth prevailing in the cigar market that the darker the wrapper, the fuller the flavor. One must keep in the mind that darkness refers to sweetness on the other hand light one means dryness to the taste.
? Fillers are available in two forms either short or long. Recently an addition has been made of medium filler cigars. There is a special category of filler known as ‘sandwich or Cuban sandwich’. It is made by rolling short leaf inside long outer leaf.
? Cigars are prominently categorized on the basis of shape and size and all together known as ‘vitola’. Few names under this category are Parejo, Figurado and little cigars.

After the development of printing industry, cigar got more vibrant looks and cigar companies prominently focused on branding of their products. During World War I, there was fall down in its popularity. But, it was remained for the very short span.
